About Our
Rescue
Group:
Solomon’s Island Rabbit Refuge, Inc., is a 501 (c)(3) tax-exempt organization that provides sanctuary to companion rabbits. We attempt to place bunnies in quality indoor homes where they can spend joyful and comfortable lives with an adoptive family. Rabbits for whom we cannot find new homes or whom we deem not adoptable due to medical or behavioral conditions or advanced age are welcome to spend the duration of their lives at the sanctuary. During their stay at the refuge, bunnies live in a clean and comfortable indoor environment with a nutritious diet, plenty of fresh water, any necessary medical care, and adoring attention. Solomon’s Island Rabbit Refuge also educates the public about the care of and life with an indoor companion rabbit.
Come Meet our Pets:
Shelter visits are by appointment only following submission of an adoption application. See our website at www.solomonsisle.org for upcoming adoption events.
Our Adoption Process:
Our adoption process includes an interview and home visit, during which applicants will be able to meet the rabbit of their choice. As of May 2006, our adoption donations are $70 for a neutered male, $80 for a spayed female, and $140 for a bonded pair.
rabbits can make wonderful pets, and rather than buying a rabbit for sale or finding a rabbit breeder, adopting a rabbit from
an animal shelter or rescue organization is the perfect way to add a rabbit to your family.
Keep in mind, there is a lot you will need to know when you provide a home for
a rabbit. You will need to learn what to feed them, how much exercise or
attention your rabbit needs, and many other important things about how to
house and care for a rabbit. There are different types of rabbits
including American; American Fuzzy Lop; American Sable; Angora, English; Angora, French; Angora, Giant; Angora, Satin; Belgian Hare; Beveren; Blanc de Hotot; Britannia Petite; Californian; Champagne D'Argent; Checkered Giant; Chinchilla, American; Chinchilla, Giant; Chinchilla, Standard; Cinnamon; Creme D'Argent; Dutch; Dwarf; Dwarf Hotot; English Spot; Flemish Giant; Florida White; Harlequin; Havana; Himalayan; Jersey Wooly; Lilac; Lionhead; Lop, English; Lop, French; Lop, Holland; Lop-Eared; Mini Lop; Mini Rex; Mini Satin; Netherland Dwarf; New Zealand; Palomino; Polish; Rex; Rhinelander; Satin; Silver; Silver Fox; Silver Marten; Tan; and Thrianta.
