Cities, Towns, and/or Counties We Serve:

We serve Ottawa, Ontario and the surrounding areas of Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec. We have on occasion adopted as far away as the US. All adopters must be willing to pick up their new friend(s)

About Our Rescue Group:

New Moon Rabbit Rescue was formed in September 2006 with one main goal: to provide unwanted, abandoned, neglected, or abused domestic rabbits with a second chance at human love and appropriate care.

We are a "no-kill" organization dedicated to providing care for rescued domestic rabbits. All rabbits remain in foster homes until such time as they are adopted to loving, caring homes.

Come Meet our Pets:

All of New Moon's rabbits are in foster care at this time. If you are interested in meeting a particular rabbit you must fill out an adoption application. Upon approval a meeting with the foster home will be arranged.

Our Adoption Process:

All rabbits that come into the care of New Moon Rabbit Rescue are spayed or neutered, health checked and if necessary, fully rehabilitated before adoption. Potential adopters are thoroughly screened to ensure that the rabbits will be entering safe and happy environments.

Every potential adopter must fill out an application, either online or by printing and filling out the PDF document. It can be faxed to 613-482-2056. You will receive a phone call within a few days to discuss your application. Please review our adoption contract, which you will required to sign upon picking up your new rabbit. Please note that all adopters must be approved before visiting the rabbits.

Our adoption policies state that we do not adopt to children, however we do adopt to families with children in which children may aid parents in caring for the rabbit. New Moon rabbits are adopted out as house pets only and are not to be housed outdoors. There will be NO exceptions to either of these strict policies.

Our adoption fees are $85 for a single rabbit and $130 for an already bonded pair. All adoption fees are non-refundable, with 100% of the proceeds benefitting the rabbits of New Moon. We are wiling to adopt outside of our area, but you must be willing to pick up your new friend.

Why should you adopt?

rabbits can make wonderful pets, and rather than buying a rabbit for sale or finding a rabbit breeder, adopting a rabbit from an animal shelter or rescue organization is the perfect way to add a rabbit to your family. You will need to learn what to feed them, how much exercise or attention your rabbit needs, and many other important things about how to house and care for a rabbit. There are different types of rabbits including American; American Fuzzy Lop; American Sable; Angora, English; Angora, French; Angora, Giant; Angora, Satin; Belgian Hare; Beveren; Blanc de Hotot; Britannia Petite; Californian; Champagne D'Argent; Checkered Giant; Chinchilla, American; Chinchilla, Giant; Chinchilla, Standard; Cinnamon; Creme D'Argent; Dutch; Dwarf; Dwarf Hotot; English Spot; Flemish Giant; Florida White; Harlequin; Havana; Himalayan; Jersey Wooly; Lilac; Lionhead; Lop, English; Lop, French; Lop, Holland; Lop-Eared; Mini Lop; Mini Rex; Mini Satin; Netherland Dwarf; New Zealand; Palomino; Polish; Rex; Rhinelander; Satin; Silver; Silver Fox; Silver Marten; Tan; and Thrianta.
