Animal Crusaiders of Ontario, AKA Friends of Forsaken Animals
About Our Rescue Group
Friends of Forsaken Animals, also known as Animal Crusaders of Ontario, is a no-kill, non profit, all volunteer organization involved in rescue and adoption of mainly cats. The animals come from the public across Ontario, senior citizens, allergy sufferers, strays and animal control centres. Formed in 1997 by Sonia Trettin it consists of a network of several foster homes in and outside of Metro. Our foster homes match applicants to a cat of their choice based on a pre-adoption interview, considering existing pets and if needed information from veterinary doctor or a visit to the future home. Volunteers also feed, spay/neuter and vaccinate feral colonies of cats in Toronto and vicinity and find homes for the adoptable ones.
Come Meet our Pets
Come visit some of our adoptable cats on alternate months (January, March, May, July, September, November) at the PetSmart location in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada

Our Adoption Process
We require an adoption application form be completed and submitted to Sonia Trettin for review. Approved adoptor applicants will be contacted for an interview and to arrange a meeting with one of our volunteers to complete the adoption contract and receive your new friend! There could be a delay of several days while this process is performed. Our standard adoption fee is $150 for a fully vacinated, de-flea and de-wormed, altered adult cat or kitten (to be altered when of age).
Dog adoption and cat
adoption saves lives. Adopt
a dog or adopt a cat and
you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a cat
or kitten versus getting cats for sale or kittens for sale from a cat breeder?
When someone is breeding kittens, they are creating new cats who need homes.
Some people are interested in a very specific breed of cat or kitten and they
think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a cat for sale from
a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with cats who must find homes.
So rather than buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage
people to adopt a cat or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA,
humane society or pet rescue group.
