All of the horses in the rescue program, whether available for adoption or part of our sister equine therapy program, Healing Hearts with Horses, need sponsors! You can sponsor any horse of your choosing for anywhere from $25 and up per month. So, if you love horses but can't adopt one today, please consider sponsoring one of ours. Your monthly donation will help us provide the horses with excellent care and training. All of your donations are tax deductible, and, you can come visit "your" horse during volunteer hours as much as you would like! Call Deb today at 515-210-2565 to set up a time to visit the horses and choose one to sponsor.

Horse Heaven Equine Rescue was founded by Deb Hoyt in 2000, and is located in Runnells, Iowa. We are a 501 (C) 3 nonprofit organization, and run completely on donations and volunteer contributions. The rescue facility is housed at Director Deb Hoyt's 25 acre farm. While the rescued horses stay with us, they are rehabilitated by Deb and a band of merry volunteers. Once the horses are physically and mentally sound, they are ready for adoption. All of the horses offered for adoption enjoy the company and attention of humans. There are many different horse attitudes and experience levels to choose from at any given time.
Come Meet our Pets:
During volunteer hours M-Sa. 9:00-4:00. Sundays by appointment only. Please call before your visit, so we can be ready!
Our Adoption Process:
$250 adoption fee with two year adoption contract. Some additional fees apply depending on the amount of money put into rehabilitating and training. Director comes to inspect proposed living quarters, and checks references. For more information on our adoption process or to see a copy of our adoption contract, please email us at email@example.com.
Why should you adopt?
horses can make wonderful pets, and rather than buying a horse for sale or finding a horse breeder, adopting a horse from
an animal shelter or rescue organization is the perfect way to add a horse to your family.
Keep in mind, there is a lot you will need to know when you provide a home for
a horse. You will need to learn what to feed them, how much exercise or
attention your horse needs, and many other important things about how to
house and care for a horse. There are different types of horses
including Andalusian, Appaloosa, Appendix, Arabian, Belgian, Clydesdale, Curly Horse, Donkey/Mule/Burro/Hinny, Draft, Friesian, Gaited, Grade, Gypsy Vanner, Haflinger, Lipizzaner, Miniature, Missouri Foxtrotter, Morgan, Mustang, Norwegian Fjord, Paint/Pinto, Palomino, Paso Fino, Percheron, Peruvian Paso, Pony - Chincoteague, Pony - Connemara, Pony - Dales, Pony - Dartmoor, Pony - Fell, Pony - New Forest, Pony - Other, Pony - Shetland, Pony - Welsh, Pony - of America, Quarterhorse, Rocky Mountain, Saddlebred, Standardbred, Tennessee Walking Horse, Thoroughbred, Trakhener, and Warmblood.
Pet adoption saves lives. Adopt a pet and you'll have a friend for life! Please consider a rescue pet before you buy a pet from a breeder or pet store. Contact us, or contact another local humane society, animal shelter or SPCA.
