Cities, Towns, and/or Counties We Serve:

All of Ohio. Out of State adoptions are handled by the adopting humane agency and not all of our rescue groups we work with adopt out of state, so PLEASE check. Safe, secure transports can be arranged.

About Our Rescue Group:

We are an adult male prison, minimum-moderate security level, in Lancaster, Ohio. We take dogs from four area rescue groups & humane societies and inmate handlers train the dogs in Basic Obedience. They are spayed/neutered and UTD on all shots. Then they are available for adoption to the general public. We do NOT accept dogs from private parties; all dogs must go through the participating rescue groups & humane societies from Fairfield, Morgan and Perry County. Do NOT call us to surrender a dog; we can not take it.

Come Meet our Pets:

Dogs may be visited at the institution weekdays. Please ask for available hours. NOTE****You MUST get pre-qualified from the rescue group to which the dog belongs before you make an appointment to come to the prison. Please email the prison coordinator for information about applications. All adoptions are approved by those agencies, NOT the institution. There are often waiting lists for dogs; prison-trained dogs are in high demand.

Our Adoption Process:

Fees are $150. Dogs may be visited at the prison by appointment only. We do NOT review, approve or deny applications. That is done by the dog's rescue group. Please be advised that there are often waiting lists for dogs; trained prison dogs are in high demand.

Our Adopted Pets:

We have helped lots of pets connect with loving and caring owners. Check out our adopted pets list!

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog or puppy versus getting dogs for sale or puppies for sale from a dog breeder? When someone is breeding puppies, they are creating new dogs who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog or puppy and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale from a puppy breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog or adopt a puppy at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
