Potential adopters have a contact through out the complete process. ALL references thouroughly questioned and rated. Adoption prices vary per age of cat. Seniors and multi cat discounts apply. All cats taken back into MCR if new owner unable to maintain health and vaccination requirements. Against outdoors and de-claw. Strict requirements for all our foster moms and dads. PEDIGREE/REGISTERED Maine Coons: A Maine Coon that has documentation to prove their parentage.
Cats that do not have clear documentation of their parentage are not represented by this Organization as "Maine Coons". They will be presented as either Maine Coon Mix or Maine Coon/DLH Mix.
Maine Coon Mix: In the absence of clear documentation and/or first-hand knowledge of the origin of all cats listed on the MCR Website, Maine Coon Rescue mailing list, Maine Coon Rescue Petfinder Site - determination of origin of these cats must be made based on their appearance and personality. Appearance and personality are determined by validation of our Regional Directors (RD) and Regional Case Managers (RCM). The cat's appearance will either clearly match the breed standard, or will be based upon the presence of physical characteristics and personality traits that are shared by purebred Maine Coon cats.
NETWORKING: Our rescue volunteers share information with each other about Maine Coons, Maine Coon Mix cats requiring rescue, as well as information regarding potential adopters and other volunteers, in an effort to utilize all available resources and network.
Dog adoption and cat
adoption saves lives. Adopt
a dog or adopt a cat and
you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a cat
or kitten versus getting cats for sale or kittens for sale from a cat breeder?
When someone is breeding kittens, they are creating new cats who need homes.
Some people are interested in a very specific breed of cat or kitten and they
think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a cat for sale from
a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with cats who must find homes.
So rather than buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage
people to adopt a cat or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA,
humane society or pet rescue group.
