The Chloe Sanctuary for Parrots and Cockatoos
About Our Rescue Group
The Chloe Sanctuary is a nonprofit charitable corporation dedicated to helping parrots and cockatoos.
Parrots often outlive their owners, are abandoned or discarded or fly away from their homes. Sanctuaries and rescues are mostly full up and the list of needy animals is growing. For this reason The Chloe Sanctuary for Parrots and Cockatoos is determined to improve rescue efforts for parrots and cockatoos and aide in finding them permanent homes.
Education is supremely important. Without knowledge the untrained caretaker causes emotional and physical damage to these delicate creatures. Many birds are driven insane without proper care. Our fervent goal is to train volunteers in parrot care and rehabilitation.
The Chloe Sanctuary needs a large base of prospective suitable qualified parrot homes and is actively seeking applications for placement. Qualification entails a safe and environmentally friendly environment and educated caretakers.
We are committed to securing safe, happy permanent homes for parrots and other avians and aiding them in their time of need.
Come Meet our Pets
We do home fostering. Meeting our companion animals is by appointment only after the proper request forms are submitting and depending on the availability of birds.
Our Adoption Process
We require an adoption donation from $50 - $600 depending on the parrot or cockatoo. A proper cage for the species must be provided by the adoptive parent. We require that applicants take our free classes on bird care, behavior and training--this helps assure the happiness of both parties. An inspection of the home to insure that deadly items such as Teflon pans, carpet fresh, household cleansers, aerosol cans, and much more are not present.
Parrots can be wonderful companions but they are wild animals. It's like having a two-year old with a pair of pliers and a foghorn in your home. Maybe you are one of the special people who can provide love for an animal as intelligent as a chimpanzee and as needy as a 5-year old. We hope so.
Our requirements are strict but this is to safeguard both you and the bird. These special animals mate for life (too humans too) and every time they lose someone they hold dear they suffer immeasurably.
Our adoption agreement is also strict and carries penalties for breeding or transferring the bird to another person. The birds are microchipped and we retain the right to protect them throughout their lives.
birds can make wonderful pets, and rather than buying a bird for sale or finding a bird breeder, adopting a bird from
an animal shelter or rescue organization is the perfect way to add a bird to your family.
Keep in mind, there is a lot you will need to know when you provide a home for
a bird. You will need to learn what to feed them, how much exercise or
attention your bird needs, and many other important things about how to
house and care for a bird. There are different types of birds
including African Grey, Amazon, Brotogeris, Budgie, Button Quail, Caique, Canary, Chicken, Cockatiel, Cockatoo, Conure, Dove, Duck, Eclectus, Emu, Finch, Goose, Guinea Fowl, Kakariki, Lorikeet, Lovebird, Macaw, Mynah, Ostrich, Parakeet - Other, Parakeet - Quaker, Parrot - Other, Parrotlet, Peacock, Pheasant, Pigeon, Pionus, Poicephalus (including Senegal and Meyer's), Quail, Rhea, Ringneck, Rosella, Softbill - Other, Swan, Toucan, and Turkey.
