Additional adoption info

All animals are vaccinated, de-wormed, and spayed or neutered prior to adoption. All animals go through an initial health evaluation and all dogs go through a tempermanent evaluation.

Adoption fees are as follows:
Cats: $25
Kittens: $35
Med to Lg Mixed Breed Dogs: $90.00
Puppies: $110.00
Lap Dogs Dogs Under 20 lbs: $120.00
Medium Purebred Dogs: $135.00
Extra Large Purebred dogs: $150.00

We have an easy adoption application which is the first step toward an adoption. Once the application is approved we schedule a meet and greet. We always encourage potential adopters to bring their dog, if applicable, when wanting to adopt another dog to ensure compatibility.

Each potential adopter is screened on an individual basis but our organization works very hard at matching the right dog with the right family so everyone involved is happy.

About Second Chance Animal Adoption

Our organization started in 1998 with two women who simply loved dogs. It has grown into a successful animal rescue. Our goal, to build a shelter, was realized in the summer of 2010 with the completion of our new facility at 6651 Lincoln street in Bonners Ferry, Idaho.

We are currently finalizing a 5 year strategic plan for the organization and working hard to structure a stronger board of directors.

Our bread and butter is the thrift store. We have one full time employee and 5 part time employees. We are always accepting donations and are very proud of how professional, clean, and organized it is. We offer quality clothing, kitchen items, furniture, well you name it we have it. Feel free to call or stop by anytime.

Our mission is:
We strive to act as faithful stewards for all abandoned, lost, homeless, and abused animals entrusted to our care in Boundary County, with the ultimate goal of finding lifelong, loving homes for every one.

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
