Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! Contact us, or contact another local humane society, animal shelter or SPCA.
We Serve the Following Cities, Towns, and/or Counties: Prairie Paws Rescue is a non-profit, foster home based rescue. All animials are kept in homes until permanent homes can be found. We are all volunteers so no one gets paid for their services and all donations go directly to the pets. All pets are spayed/neutered, updated shots, wormed, treated for fleas and ticks, vet checked and maybe heartworm tested at the request of the adopter. Adoption donations are based on the medical work put into each animal. Cats and kittens are $25 and Dogs and puppies range from $75 to $125.

Prairie Paws Rescue
About Our Rescue Group
We rescue animals from puppy mills, animals in the pound in our community and surrounding communities, from local reservations, owner surrenders and strays. We are foster home based...the more foster homes we have the more pets we can help. We provide the pet food, collars, bowls, leashes and medical work. Foster parents provide the loving home until a permanent home is found. Foster homes are so important as they work with the animal 24/7 and can give you details about the pets personality, likes and fears.
Come Meet our Pets
Prairie Paws Rescue does not have a facility therefore no visiting hours. Appointments can be made to meet pets in their foster homes after the pre-adoption application is fill out and reviewed. We have our monthly Pet Meet & Greets the 2nd Saturday of the month at Jamestown Tractor Supply (1100 5th ave SE) from 10am-2pm. All the pets are there that are up for adoption to meet the public an potential adopters. At these events we do not do on the spot adoptions unless the applicant is pre-approved for a pet.
Our Adoption Process
All animals must be altered prior to placement. Adoption donations are $25 for cats and kittens and $75-$125 for dogs depending on medical work. All adopters must fill out a pre-adoption application. References are checked and home visits conducted prior to placement. An adoption agreement is signed and adopters agree to provide suitable care for each pet they adopt.

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder? When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
