Greyhound Connection
About Our Rescue Group
Greyhound Connection is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation run exclusively by volunteers and dedicated to the rescue, care and adoption of ex-racing greyhounds. Because we are a small group, our adoptions are limited to San Diego County. Our FOSTER families are the key in helping greyhounds make the transition from racing dog to family pet. During their stay with their foster families our dogs are cared for in every way. They are evaluated medically and treated if necessary. They are introduced to things they never encountered in their previous life such as stairs, sliding glass doors, grassy back yards. They are taken to public places so that they can become comfortable with unexpected traffic sounds, new people and the general variety of life other dogs grow with from puppyhood. When we decide they are ready, we place them with families who have made the financial and emotional commitments to love them for the rest of their lives.
Come Meet our Pets
We do not have a shelter but visits with our dogs can be arranged. Please call (619) 286-4739 or check out the Events page on our webstite and stop by to meet our greyhounds!
Our Adoption Process
Submit an online application. We will contact you within 48 hours. Following a Home Visit where we get to know your family and your pets, we will decide if a greyhound is a good fit for you. If so, we will evaluate our adoptable greyhounds and introduce you to the ones who will be happy in your home.
Dog adoption and cat
adoption saves lives. Adopt
a dog or adopt a cat and
you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog
or puppy versus getting dogs for sale or puppies for sale from a dog breeder?
When someone is breeding puppies, they are creating new dogs who need homes.
Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog or puppy and they
think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale from
a puppy breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs who must find homes.
So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder, we encourage
people to adopt a dog or adopt a puppy at their local animal shelter, SPCA,
humane society or pet rescue group.
