We Serve the Following Cities, Towns, and/or Counties: The Casey Animal Shelter is a recording shelter and all our animals are fostered. Our dogs and cats come from all over Clark County, Illinois. Our animals have found their forever homes not only in Illinois but also in neighboring states.
Casey Animal Shelter
About Our Shelter
The Casey Animal Shelter is a no-kill recording shelter, is licensed with the State of Illinois and has applied for 501(c)3 federal non-profit status. Besides rescuing dogs and cats and finding them permanent homes, we have the following program:
A pet food pantry that helps feed the pets of people who have lost their jobs or had their hours cut. The pet food pantry has two locations--one at the east end of the county and another at the west end.
A spay/neuter program: one unaltered pet can be the beginning of a population explosion of unwanted animals. The Casey Animal Shelter's spay/neuter program helps pet owners do the responsible thing. We offer vouchers for spaying or neutering at half the regular price when used at a participating veterinary service. Cat owners, particularly, are taking advantage of our program.
County Pound: The Clark County pound does not have the man power or budget to advertise the animals that end up there. It is a death row--the last stop for stray or abandoned dogs. The Casey Animal Service is now working with the Clark County pound to advertise these dogs on our facebook site, in local papers, and on the Clark County Now website. When possible we find other rescues to take the dogs or take them ourselves. While it isn't possible to save every dog, the Casey Animal Shelter works diligently to save a many as possible.
Why do we do this? Because our members love animals, the need is there, and because a society can be judged only by how it's least inhabitants are treated. .
Come Meet our Pets
Since the Casey Animal Shelter dogs and cats are in foster families throughout Clark County, it is best to call and make an appointment.
Adoption days are scheduled on weekends throughout late spring and summer. We also have dogs available during the following events:
Father's Day Weekend--The National Road Festival
July 4th--Casey 4th of July Celebration
Labor Day Weekend--Casey Popcorn Festival
October (date to be determined) CIA Harvest Festival
Our Adoption Process
There is an adoption application that must be filled out before an adoption contract. The contract requires references that must be checked out before an adoption is final. The adoption contract allows a dog or cat to be returned to the Casey Animal Shelter within 10 days for a full refund of their adoption fee. If at any time the adoptive family finds that they cannot keep the dog or cat, the animal must be returned to the Casey Animal Shelter.
An animal's vet blls are taken into consideration when setting adoption fees, therefore, fees do vary.
Dog adoption and cat
adoption saves lives. Adopt
a dog or adopt a cat and you'll
have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting
a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats
for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?
When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs
and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of
dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed
is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten
breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.
So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat
or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt
a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane
society or pet rescue group.
