Dog adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog and you'll have a friend for life! Contact us, or contact another local humane society, animal shelter or SPCA.
Why California? It can be quite difficult to find a “small-breed dog” without going to your local pet store or backyard breeder. Not all breeders are bad, either. CaliCan hopes that by flying pups in from California (which is filled with small breeds), we are helping put a dent on the puppy mill problem Canada has.
Why local too? Life happens. You may have gotten your little dog with the best of intentions of spending every non-working moment with them...but a new job with more hours, or loss of a job, or any number of other reasons is preventing you from giving them the time and attention they deserve. When you make the most difficult decision of allowing your pup to find a new family to love him/her, we will do our best to try to help you.
We do what we do because we love dogs - and we appreciate the completeness they bring to all our lives!
Check us out on Facebook and Twitter, as well for future events, including adoptions and fundraisers!
We are thorough in our processes - instead of an online application, we prefer to chat with you and get to know you and your family. This is to ensure that we keep our Best Fit practice running strong, to protect these little dogs and the families who contact us.
We DO NOT have the ability to do meet-n-greets with our pups (unless we have a special adoption event scheduled), but instead offer a 7-Day Trial Visit to the successful applicant.
At the start of the 7-Day-Trial-Visit, we conduct a home visit to ensure the pup is safe and secure. We collect the adoption fees at the start of the visit.
When you sign the adoption contract with us, you will receive your pup's medical records containing the entire medical history from the moment they entered our rescue.
Why should you adopt?
Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog or puppy versus getting dogs for sale or puppies for sale from a dog breeder? When someone is breeding puppies, they are creating new dogs who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog or puppy and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale from a puppy breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog or adopt a puppy at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
