Additional adoption info

We have a initial meet n greet with you and all family members that reside in your home. We may also include your pets at this meeting too. If you and your family are interested in adopting this animal at this time then we complete step one of our adoption application with you .Good shepherd then will review the application and get back to you in a few days to let you know if we need anything else or if it was accepted. It also gives you and your family time to decide if you are truly ready to adopt at this time. We will also leave you with breed literature for you to review .This will help you to understand the breed(s) better especially if you never had this breed before.

If you and your family are interested in continuing with the adoption process we will set up a appointment with you and your family at your home with the animal you are interested in adopting (everyone must be their and you animals must be present for this meeting too). We will visit for an hour or two .if it seems to be going well we will fill out the second part of the adoption application.

We will take the application and review it and get back to you in 48 hours with our diction .If it is approved a ‘‘non refundable'' deposit is required and we will give you a list of supplies you will need prior to receiving your new family member. A third visit to your home with the foster animal may be necessary at this time. We will set a date and time as to when to relinquish the animal to you. fees vary depending upon the age of animals.

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
