The adoption fee is $90. Veterinary services for dogs include: First exam, Worm check, Worming (if necessary), First vaccinations, Rabies inoculation (city license purchase is not included), First antibiotics, Spay or Neuter, and Heartworm check. Veterinary services for cats include: First exam, Worm check, Worming (if necessary), First Vaccinations, Rabies Inoculation (city license purchase is not included), First antibiotics, Spay or Neuter, Feline leukemia exam, and Feline FIV (older cats). Note: If adopter is in the City of Little Rock, a $10 city license is required.

All animals listed on this website are available for adoption, unless there is a future "Available:" date listed in the animal details section. If the "Available:" date has not past, the animal can still be visited.

Be sure to have the ID number so LRAS will know what animals you are referring to.

You will want to take him or her out of the kennel area, and go outside. Please be aware that when they are comfortable in a home, they will relax, and their personality will be different than in the shelter.

When you are ready to adopt the LRAS policy is first come - first serve. You cannot reserve an animal for adoption. An Adoption Application is required. The animals can be adopted at 8:00 a.m., Tuesday-Saturday on their available date.

It is a state law that an animal can not leave a shelter until sterilized (Arkansas Code 20-19-103 I (1). For animals needing sterilization, they will be altered at the next available time by the LRAS veterinarian. If the animal is too young or sick to be altered, the vet will sign a medical waiver and give a date the animal can be returned to be altered.

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
