Cities, Towns, and/or Counties We Serve:
The Michigan Humane Society serves the entire Metropolitan Detroit area. We have 3 animal care centers in Wayne and Oakland counties all of which offer full-service adoptions and veterinary care. We also have offsite adoption locations in PetSmart stores and Petco in Sterling Heights. Our adoption program is supported by providing individualized treatment and care to hundreds of animals.
The Michigan Humane Society is the oldest and largest animal welfare organization in Michigan, taking in approximately 35,000 animals per year. We have three animal care centers in the Metro area including locations in Detroit, Westland and Rochester Hills, as well as cat adoption centers in PetSmart stores in several locations and an adoption center at Petco in Sterling Heights. You are sure to find the perfect pet at one of our adoption locations!
Come Meet our Pets:
Ours adoptable pets are available 7 days a week at the PetSmart store from 9 to 9, or 9 to 6 on Sundays! Michigan Humane Society volunteers are at the cat center on Saturdays from 11 to 5 and on Sundays from 11 to 4, to assist you with finding the perfect new pet. PetSmart staff can assist you the rest of the week with adopting a cat. Your new pet can generally go home with you the very same day!
Our Adoption Process:
We have a simple adoption application and approval process. Our adoption fees vary by animal, but generally include neutering, age appropriate vaccinations, behavior and health assessments, and health insurance. In addition, all adopters have free access to our Adopter Support program for assistance with health or behavior issues that may arise.
