About Our Shelter:

Central Arkansas Refuge for Dogs has been approved as the local dog rescue site of the Paron Community Center in Paron, AR (a 501c3 organization). Paron is a small, remote rural community west of Little Rock, AR, where dogs are routinely abandoned. The Refuge believes dogs deserve better. They are not property. They are beings. During the last few years, we have found good homes for dozens of abandoned dogs. Dogs at the refuge are not caged but congregate in large yards. They have an indoor home life where they learn house-training and crating for bedtime. All dogs receive excellent medical care and monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventives. If old enough, dogs are spayed/neutered prior to leaving the refuge facility. Adoption fees help to defray some of the costs of care.

Come Meet our Pets:

Pets can be interviewed either at the refuge site in Paron, AR or at an agreed-upon location, by appointment only.

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog or puppy versus getting dogs for sale or puppies for sale from a dog breeder? When someone is breeding puppies, they are creating new dogs who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog or puppy and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale from a puppy breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog or adopt a puppy at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
