All of Southern Illinois

About Our Shelter:

We are a no kill shelter. We house about 100 dog/cats at a time. We also house the first low cost spay neuter clinic in Southern Illinois. This service is offered to low income individuals who can't otherwise afford to spay/neuter their dogs or cats. We also have taken in injured animals and provide the medical care they need. Our veterinarian is on staff full time.

Come Meet our Pets:

Our pets can be visited at St Francis CARE Monday through Friday from 8:00 to 4:30, Saturday from 8:00 to 3:00 and on the last Sunday of each month from 10:00 to 2:00. We also take some of our dogs and puppies to the Carbondale Petco the 1st and 3rd Saturday or each month.

Our Adoption Process:

Our adoption process involves an application and contract.
All of our pets are dewormed, fully vaccinated (Distemper, Parvo, Bordetela, Rabies), microchipped, and spayed/neutered. All dogs are heartworm negative and cats are FELV/FIV negative.
The adoption fee is $250.00 for puppies and dogs. Although, we do have adult dogs who have been with us for an extended period of time "discounted" to $100.00 not because they are any less valuable but to encourage the public who is generally most interested in puppies to consider an adult or senior.
The adoption fee for cats & kittens is $50.00 for 1 or $75.00 for 2.

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder? When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
