Eve's Sanctuary Animal Rescue's adoption process

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process is extremely straightforward. First, there is an application (find that on our website at: http://www.evessanctuary.org/Adoption.html) Make sure to let us know what animal you are interested in!!

From there, you may come to one of our adoption events, or schedule an appointment with the animal's foster family!

For every animal we place, there is a required home visit - so please be sure that you are within our LOCAL area. If you're not sure that you are, please don't hesitate to ask us!

There is an adoption donation for every animal, based on the amount of medical needed, age, and many other factors. If you want to know about a specific critters donation amount, just ask!

The last step is a contract to sign that outlines what you must do to care for your animal (walks, brushing, clean water, food... all very straightforward), and if - for any reason - you can't keep the animal, it must come back to us.

And then, you are a happy family with your new critter to love!

About Eve's Sanctuary Animal Rescue

Founded in 2004, "Eve's Sanctuary" is an independent, no-kill, non-profit, all volunteer, animal rescue organization based in New York City. Dealing primarily with cats and dogs in imminent danger, Eve's Sanctuary has rehabilitated and placed countless animals into new homes. Through education sessions, community awareness, street / high risk shelter rescue, and public adoption events, they strive to save as many lives as possible while ensuring all animals are placed into responsible and loving homes within the NYC area.

As "New Hope Partners" with the New York City Animal Care and Control shelters, Eve's Sanctuary is able to pull animals from an overwhelmed system that may otherwise be forced to euthanize, and place them into their own no-kill sanctuary until permanent adoptive homes can be found. No salaries are paid and the rescue is funded primarily by the big hearts of its own volunteers and donations from the public. Animals undergoing evaluation and medical treatment are contained, but once healthy and behavior screen approved - the majority are placed in foster care so that they spend a minimal amount of time in cages. All animals are fully vaccinated, dewormed, spay/neutered, blood tested, and micro-chipped. Making happy "tails" out of previously uncertain fates...

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
