About Our Shelter:

The staff at the Carthage Humane Society is one of the most dedicated staffs in this area. Each person on staff has their own area of expertise and work exceptionally well as a team. We pride ourselves on the friendliness of the staff and the quality of animals that are adoptable.

Adoption event -- Saturday June 18 from 9:00 to 2:00 at Central Park in Carthage, Missouri.

Our Adoption Process:

$75.00 fee for adoption. We run adoption specials periodically and frequently give a discount for multiple animals adopted to the same family. Thirty dollars of adoption fee will be applied to spay/neuter fee at vets who honor our contract. If animal leaving the shelter is not altered, spay/neuter agreement is signed that owner will alter animal at the appropriate time. Followup telephone calls are made for verification of spay/neuter.

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
