A Pets Wish Rescue's adoption process

Additional adoption info

Being that we are a 501c3 we run soley on what we get in donations from local sponsors. We also still have to pay out of pocket and depend on Donations to adopt from the local animal control which still charges us a pull fee to rescue and save the lives of these poor pets. We charge normally for the cost of the Spay/Neuter, shots and medical treatment. If this cost is high it is normally looked over and forgiven from the new adopter. We get a lot of puppies whose moms are euthenised and so there is a lot of time and care taken to raise these little guys. Our adoption fee starts at $65.00- $100.00 for cats/kittens & $65.00- $200.00 for Dogs/Puppies. Each Pet is placed in only proper homes according to their size, breed and temperament. Every animal that leaves this organization is Microchipped / Vet checked/De-wormed/HWT(if over a year) / Flea & Tick treated & Spayed or Neutered if over 6 months of age (if younger we make the appointment for them at 6 months which is already paid for in their adoption fee). No Animals will be Chained and we also do home checks after the adoption process.

About A Pets Wish Rescue

A Pets Wish Animal Rescue is a 501c3 Non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing homeless and abandoned animals ,primarily dogs & cats from high-kill shelters and owners who
can no longer care for them. By working with committed volunteers , foster homes, local veterinarians & boarding facilities, we are able to rescue hundreds of animals every
year, provide them with loving temporary care, and find them well matched, carefully screened forever homes. We will be working on serving as a resource to our community and
all pet owners by providing education and information on responsible pet ownership starting with the importance of spay/neuter, positive behavior training and good nutrition.

All our Staff, Volunteers & Fosters receive no pay ,work many hours to help the community and promote a better life for animals that are unwanted. We strive to give every
animal a warm and comfortable home and try to place them with a forever family that have have the ability to care for the animal as a family member & friend for life.

Our goal is to work with shelters, humane organizations, and other rescue organizations to build a larger Shelter/Rescue for Val Verde County and Surrounding Counties.
Also we would like to work with the Community help open up a low-cost spay/neuter clinic to help with our long term goal which is to save the lives of unwanted and abandoned
or needlessly killed puppies & kittens born every day!

We desire to create a new world for homeless & unwanted pets, support and manage a low cost spay and neuter program/Clinic, set up a larger system to foster homes and
maintain a flexible adoption program.

Adopt a Pet is the easiest way for you to search for a new pet in Del Rio, TX.

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
