Cities, Towns, and/or Counties We Serve:

We serve the Dallas, TX area, northern Texas, and southern Oklahoma. We do not ship animals because it is harmful to them.

About Our Shelter:

We provide rescue, rehabilitation, re-homing and foster care services. We also do community outreach and education. Our main focus is sugar gliders. As with dogs and cats, there is an epidemic of abandonment with these exotics.

Lucky Glider Rescue & Sanctuary is a USDA licensed rescue. Our license number is: 74-B-0682

Lucky Glider Rescue & Sanctuary is a 501(c)3 public charity. Our EIN number is: 26-1438304

Our motivation in rescue and adoption services is our love for animals and our desire to educate prospective pet owners on how to properly care for them.

Come Meet our Pets:

We have frequent "meetups" at our facility. The next meetup event is October 15th. Venue is 322 Bear Rd. Van Alstyne TX 75495

Our Adoption Process:

We charge a flat $50 fee for each animal up to two animals. Our flat fee maximum is $100 even if an entire colony is adopted.

We have an adoption agreement contract, and a foster care agreement contract. Adopters agree they will return animals if for any reason they can no longer care for them.

We offer a free animal husbandry course and dietary workshop but both are a prerequisite for adoption.

Adoptions can only happen face-to-face after animals are introduced and prospective adopters have time to interact with the animals.

Our Adopted Pets:

We have helped lots of pets connect with loving and caring owners. Check out our adopted pets list!

Why should you adopt?

small animals can make wonderful pets, and rather than buying a small animal for sale or finding a small animal breeder, adopting a small animal from an animal shelter or rescue organization is the perfect way to add a small animal to your family. Keep in mind, there is a lot you will need to know when you provide a home for a small animal. You will need to learn what to feed them, how much exercise or attention your small animal needs, and many other important things about how to house and care for a small animal. There are different types of small animals including Chinchilla, Degu, Ferret, Gerbil, Guinea Pig, Hamster, Hedgehog, Mouse, Prairie Dog, Rat, Skunk, and Sugar Glider.

Pet adoption saves lives. Adopt a pet and you'll have a friend for life! Please consider a rescue pet before you buy a pet from a breeder or pet store. Contact us, or contact another local humane society, animal shelter or SPCA.
