About Our Shelter:

We are a county run animal shelter. Although we do euthanize, our Shelter Coordinator and volunteers along with our rescue partners are very successful at placing our dogs and cats so that our euthanization rate is surprisingly low. In fact, we are considered to be a no-kill community with a life release rate for our animals at above 95% last year!!

We are open from 10am to 2pm M-F and 9am to 3pm on Saturdays. We are closed on Sundays and National Holidays.

If you want to help by volunteering your time or by fostering our animals - especially puppies - we would love to hear from you!

Donate to Our Shelter...

Cash and check donations may be made at our shelter or by mail. We are always in need of physical donations such as towels and pet bedding.

Come Meet our Pets:

We participate is Tractor Supply events with other area rescues on a monthly basis in the spring and fall months when the weather is warm/cool enough to keep the dogs comfortable. We advertize our events in The Courier and local radio stations.

Our Adoption Process:

We have an adoption application and contract that you will fill out when you want to adopt a pet. Once it is turned in, you can have your new pet that same day. Adoption fees for pets from our shelter are very reasonable for what you are getting:

Dogs & Puppies $80.00
Cats & Kittens $75.00

All adoptions include spay/neuter (appointments for puppies and kittens made thru us when pet is sexually mature), all vaccinations, microchip and 30 days complimentary pet insurance.

If you have a pet that is already spayed or neutered an want it microchipped, you can purchase a microchip from our shelter for $10 and have it inserted by your vet.

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder? When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
