Cities, Towns, and/or Counties We Serve:

Recognizing that the needs of animals both inside Austin Animal Center (AAC) and in the surrounding community are greater than what the city can budget, Friends of Austin Animal Center (FoAAC) formed in July 2006 in order to bridge the gap.
We often help the dogs and cats that need it the most. The last 10 percent. The seniors, the ones with medical needs and behavioral modifications. Please consider adopting from your local shelter FIRST.

Come Meet our Pets:

Most of our dogs and cats are housed at Austin Animal center in Austin Texas and our second location as Town Lake animal shelter.
The rest are in foster homes or at train and board. Please read the descriptions to find out their location.

Our Adoption Process:

Currently, most of our adoptions will take place thru Austin Animal center but we are here to assist you with any dog or cat you see in one of our programs. As a non profit sector of AAC, we have worked with most of these animals on a one on one basis and will do our best to match you with the right pet.

We have helped lots of pets connect with loving and caring owners. Check out our adopted pets list!

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder? When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
