Companion Animal Rescue & Education (NY)'s adoption process

Additional adoption info

Minimum requirements:
1. At least 25 yrs. old
2. Valid driver's license
3. Vet reference
We have an application and phone interview process.
Adoption fee is usually $200-250 plus $50 health certificate charge and the transport fee which is paid to the transporter upon delivery of your pet.
All of our pets are quarantined a minimum of 2 weeks before being put on-line for adoption. They have been vetted which includes spay/neutering, age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm testing if over 6 mos., fecal w/deworming and started on flea and heartworm preventative and microchipped.
Our puppies have to have a minimum of 2 puppy shots before we have them spay/neutered and offered for adoption. We know the heartbreak and horror stories of puppies not being properly vaccinated and breaking with the deadly virus, Parvo, a couple of days after adopting and the new family being faced with the decision to euthanize their new puppy because they couldn't afford the $$$$ to treat it at the vet's.
So our policy is to hold on to our pups longer to hopefully prevent our clients the heartache & financial drain that this sometimes deadly virus can create.

About Companion Animal Rescue & Education (NY)

We are a small all volunteer state licensed non-profit rescue in rural west central Georgia.
We appreciate you considering to adopt one of our pets as their life hasn't been a bed of roses some are fearful at first until you give them a chance to know what it's like to have a family to love and be loved. Once given that chance you couldn't ask for a more loyal or devoted companion. We are so glad for the 300+ families in the Mid-Atlantic states that have given our unwanted, homeless, Georgia country dogs a chance and are now living the life all companion animals should have, hopefully, we have a pet for you.
THANK YOU ! ! NEW YORK and surrounding states for the tremendous response to our available pets we have posted and now have forever homes.

Companion Animal Rescue & Education (NY)'s adopted pets

Adopt a Pet is the easiest way for you to search for a new pet in Albany, NY.

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
