About Our Rescue Group:

Ruff Start Happy Tails believes that animals deserve our love, compassion, and respect. Our purpose is to rescue dogs and to provide care for orphaned, stray, and abused dogs. Through rehabilitation, socialization and adoption, we strive to provide a humane service to all dogs that come into our rescue. Additionally we provide awareness about the prevention of animal abuse and neglect as well as spay/neuter programs and their important effect on the dog overpopulation crisis.

Our Adoption Process:

Ruff Start Happy Tails requires all potential adopters to fill out an adoption application and agree to a home visit prior to any adoption. Once the application is approved, a meet and greet will be scheduled between the potential adopter (s) and dog. If the dog is adopted through Ruff Start Happy Tails, an adoption Contract must be signed, and we ask that a donation in the amount of $300.00 be made at the time of adoption to help our rescue cover a portion of the costs we incur through pull fees, vetting, and transport.

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog or puppy versus getting dogs for sale or puppies for sale from a dog breeder? When someone is breeding puppies, they are creating new dogs who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog or puppy and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale from a puppy breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog or adopt a puppy at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
