Cities, Towns, and/or Counties We Serve:

Second Chance Salem always does a home check. For this reason, we have a 50 mile radius in which we are realistically able to travel for an adoption. In special circumstances, we will go further, but typically, we do not.
We have devoted our rescue to helping Oregon dogs. We are based in Salem,OR.

About Our Rescue Group:

We are a small 501(c)3 Non-Profit rescue in Salem, OR focused on giving quality care to our dogs until we find them their perfect forever homes. We want to bridge the gap between humans and dogs with education, support and compassion. All of our dogs are housed in a family setting.
We started SCS because we saw a need for another dog rescue in the Salem area. We take in owner surrenders and shelter transfers. Our main focus is Oregon dogs and their owners. We are very passionate about our dogs and we know them all like our own.

Our Adoption Process:

For an online application go to:

www.secondchancesalem.org

We will do a home check and for this reason, most of our adoptions are limited to a 50 mile radius. Exceptions are made on a case by case basis.

The adoption fee varies based on the special needs of the dog. If the routine needs of the dog are higher the adoption fee of the dog is higher. Senior dogs adopted through SCS qualify for lifetime free exams. Adoption fees typically start at $150.

The adoption fee includes spay/neuter, microchip ID, collar and SCS I.D. tag, initial vaccines, free veterinarian exam, and plenty of post adoption support!

All dogs adopted through SCS are spayed/neutered before they leave our care.

Our Adopted Pets:

We have helped lots of pets connect with loving and caring owners. Check out our adopted pets list!

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog or puppy versus getting dogs for sale or puppies for sale from a dog breeder? When someone is breeding puppies, they are creating new dogs who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog or puppy and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale from a puppy breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog or adopt a puppy at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
