Pets at Our Shelter:
Cities, Towns, and/or Counties We Serve:Adopters should live within two hours of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. This is because home visits are part of our adoption process. Since we are all volunteers, it needs to be a reasonable driving distance.
About Our Shelter:Dogs Forever Safe Place provides refuge for homeless dogs, where they receive loving care, free of fear and free of the threat of being euthanized. This is their sanctuary until Dogs Forever places them with a reputable rescue, a no-kill shelter or a forever family.
The dogs at Safe Place come from kill shelters where they were at risk of being euthanized and from Iowa counties that have no animal shelter.
Come Meet our Pets:Dogs Forever Safe Place is located at 809 Rockford Road SW in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. We are just down the road from the Ice Arena. Our front door faces the right field of Kernels stadium.
Our Adoption Process:Adopters are required to complete an adoption form. They need to provide either a vet reference or two personal references. Once reference checks are complete, we arrange for a home visit.
Our adoption fees are on a sliding scale; choose the amount thatís right for you. Fees for senior dogs (7 years and older) are on a sliding scale of $90 to $125; fees for dogs 1-6 years are on a sliding scale of $125-$175; fees for dogs under 1 year of age are $150-$200. Please note that we do have exceptions to the above fees on occasion, and these fees will be stated in the dog's bio.
