Additional adoption info

Paws and Claws has an application that we will send to you and ask you to complete. This helps us make sure that we are making the best match possible for both you and the dog...afterall, adopting a dog is a big commitment and we want to do everything we can to help find the perfect match for you. The adoption fee for dogs is $75 to $125. The adoption fee for dogs varies depending on how much money we have had to put into the dog to get it ready for adoption. The adoption fee helps to offset the cost (but seldom ever covers) the spay or neuter, all shots, microchip, heartworm test (if over 6 months of age) and worming. Please email us today for more information on adopting a pet

After we get the applicaiton, we will call you and set up a meeting and hopefully it will go well and the dog can go home with you. We also will do a home visit - again to help make sure that we haven't missed anything and to help the adopter with introduction to other pets and kids as needed. We also can help line up training and continue to support our adopters even after they have adopted a pet from us!! We also consider things like "test runs" and foster to adopt situations so ask us today - we want to find these homeless babies good homes and are flexible about working with you to make it work!

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
