About Our Rescue Group:

Chap’s Chow Rescue started in the 1980’s with Michael G. Chapman and a feral Chow-Chow roaming a military base. Mike personally rescued the Chow, named her Bear and made her part of his family. Bear was Mike’s first Chow and this act set Mike on a journey that has resulted in his saving and placing hundreds of Chows, Chow-mixes and various other dog breeds into permanent loving homes in the United States and Canada. For decades, Mike basically did this on his own.

In 2012, the nonprofit, Chap’s Chow Rescue INC, was established and a small dedicated group of volunteers joined Mike as the only Chow rescue in the Southeastern United States. Chap’s Chow Rescue is a small rescue doing big things.

Chap’s Chow Rescue is located near Atlanta, GA and operates by utilizing foster homes and vet boarding. The number of lives saved is dependent upon funds and the number of foster homes available. Please support us by joining our team and/or making a donation.

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog or puppy versus getting dogs for sale or puppies for sale from a dog breeder? When someone is breeding puppies, they are creating new dogs who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog or puppy and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale from a puppy breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog or adopt a puppy at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
