Cities, Towns, and/or Counties We Serve:

Although we serve the residents within Giles County, TN, we do adopt out of county.

About Our Rescue Group:

The GCHA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit rescue group that strives to make a difference in the lives of animals within our rural community in south central Tennessee. We are focused on our Spay/Neuter Program to reduce the pet overpopulation in our county. Through education, awareness and our s/n program for Giles County residents, we know that the result will be a huge reduction in the amount of local animals being euthanized.

The Giles County Humane Association lends a voice to those animals who cannot speak for themselves. Although our mission is to reduce the over-population of cats and dogs in our county, we are also committed to saving lives, protecting animal welfare, promoting the humane treatment of animals, and providing educational resources to the community.

Come Meet our Pets:

We do not have a shelter yet. All of our adoptable pets are in local foster homes. Along with monthly local adoption events we are an agency partner at the PetSmart store in Spring Hill, TN, where our felines can be seen during store hours, and dogs during weekend events. If you are interested in meeting one of our furbabies, simply contact us, and we will definitely make it happen! Since we are an all-volunteer rescue, please be patient, as it may take up to 48 hours for a response. Thank you!

Our Adoption Process:

Who says you can't buy love? Our adoption rates say different at $90 - $250 (pure-bred pets with papers are higher). Please contact us for the specific adoption fee, which covers the pet's spay or neuter, vaccinations, testing, and de-worming. We require interested parties to complete our adoption application, and if veterinarian and personal references check out, the application is approved. We will then work with you to schedule a meeting to see the pet, and if you decide to adopt the contract is the last step.

Our Adopted Pets:

We have helped lots of pets connect with loving and caring owners. Check out our adopted pets list!

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder? When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
