We do not ship our cats
SOS Feline Rescue’s mission is to rescue stray, abandoned and neglected cats and kittens, provide temporary sanctuary for them in foster homes, and find permanent, loving homes for each of them. We believe that no animal should have to go hungry, be homeless, or live in pain or fear.
SOS Feline Rescue is a 501c3 organization formed to save the lives of, and find safe and permanent homes for, homeless and feral felines. The animals we rescue have all come from desperate situations whether they were feral or abandoned and struggling to survive on their own, or turned into animal control by their owners. In Union County, animal control gasses the animals on a nightly basis…owner surrenders are killed almost immediately upon being surrendered.
All SOSFR rescues are vetted immediately upon intake. They are combo tested for FeLv, Fiv, and heartworms, given a distemper vaccination, a rabies vaccination, are spayed/neutered, dewormed, and receive any additional medical care needed. Kittens are dewormed, defleaed, and given any additional medical care needed. Kittens do not receive any vaccinations or a combo test and are not spayed/neutered until age appropriate.
SOSFR thoroughly screens potential adopters to ensure our rescues get a safe, loving, and permanent home. SOSFR requires an adoption application and, upon approval of an applicant, an adoption agreement must be signed. We also require that a potential adopter meet the desired pet before the adoption takes place to ensure a good fit. Upon approval and receipt of the adoption fee, an SOSFR representative will deliver the pet to his new home and will provide all medical records and rabies certificates.
If you are interested in adopting an SOS cat or in volunteering as a foster, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or visit our website to submit an Adoption Application or Foster Application.
Why should you adopt?
Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a cat or kitten versus getting cats for sale or kittens for sale from a cat breeder? When someone is breeding kittens, they are creating new cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of cat or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a cat for sale from a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with cats who must find homes. So rather than buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a cat or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
