Pets at Our Rescue Group:

Cities, Towns, and/or Counties We Serve:

OutPaws is a 501c3 nonprofit animal rescue organization that provides a safe haven for homeless animals, gives a second chance to those left behind in overburdened shelter systems and advocates for the “underdogs” in our community and beyond. OutPaws places companion animals in foster homes until they can be matched with loving forever homes, educates the community about responsible pet ownership, advocates tirelessly for the best alternatives for both homeless animals and beloved pets and remains committed to fighting pet homelessness until every adoptable dog and cat has a home.

About Our Rescue Group:

Founded in 2013 as a 501 c3 nonprofit in Denver, Colorado, OutPaws grew out of a dream to create an animal rescue organization that reflects Denver and Colorado’s young and vibrant ethos and that lives by the creed that there is no such thing as a bad dog or cat.

We believe that our pets rescue us as much as we rescue them, no matter if they are homeless or shelter animals that have been deemed “unadoptable.” We pride ourselves on being champions of the “underdogs,” and we know that with a little patience and love, mixed with proper care and training, these animals can make wonderful, loving companions. Whether placing pets in foster homes or forever homes, our role as “matchmaker” is one we take seriously. We hope to reach those who are lifelong pet owners as well as those who are looking for their first rescue with the goal of creating and nurturing bonds that last a lifetime.

Come Meet our Pets:

Because our animals are all in foster homes, meetings are scheduled individually. We also bring our dogs to many local adoption events.

Our Adoption Process:

The adoption process begins when you complete an online Adoption Application at www.outpaws.org/adopt, naming either one or a few of our Available Animals or providing a description of the type of animal you hope to adopt. Because we are an all-volunteer organization, we do not have time to respond to general inquiries about animals. Completing an application does not restrict you to a specific animal, nor does it obligate you to adopt.

Once we have received your application and determined that you are a good match for the requested animal, we will contact you by email. The foster parent will then contact you to arrange a time for you to meet the animal, at which time you can decide if you would like to complete the adoption.

Once the adoption is approved, you will need to complete our online Adoption Contract and pay the non-refundable adoption fee. This non-tax-deductible fee assists us in continuing to save more homeless pets and may be refunded only if the animal is returned within 14 days due to a health consideration.

All of our animals are spayed/neutered and up-to-date on distemper, parvo, parainfluenza and adenovirus, as well as rabies if they are over 6 months of age.

Adoption Fees

Dogs under 1 year of age: $250

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder? When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
