Additional adoption info

If you are interested in adopting, please keep in mind that adoption fees vary per animal. The rescue has no funding. Any vet care that the animal recieves will be charged as an adoption fee, so that we can continue to help other animals. Most of our animals come from a shelter. There is rarely any information on their lives prior to the shelter. We will give you the most accurate information that we have.
Sometimes animals may not be fully potty trained. They may have bad habits, through no fault of their own. We ask for patience, guidance and a loving forever home to show these animals that there are people who do care about them and won't throw them away like trash. We do require an adoption application and references as well.

About Kristin Johnson Fosters and Rescues

Please be assured Kristin Johnson Fosters and Rescues is a reputable rescue, with all fosters in private homes, not boarding situations. We are hoping in the near future that we will have enough permanent foster homes in place, that we will be able to continue to combine our efforts and rename our organization. In the meantime, we are dedicated to saving animals from high kill shelters and finding these loving animals their forever homes, instead of living their last moments in a cold, damp, lonely shelter. We want to educate the public on the importance of spay and neuter of their pets and we want to make a difference, no matter how big or small , by giving these animals a fair chance at a loving, care-free life. We are self-funded and are always in need of donations for our foster animals for food, vaccines, spay/neuter and any medical issues that they may have. This helps the rescue to be able to save more animals from death row. Donations can be made to the rescue paypal at kjohnson77@ec.rr.com

Adopt a Pet is the easiest way for you to search for a new pet in Wilmington, NC.

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
