Cities, Towns, and/or Counties We Serve:

We assist animals in San Saba County (Central Texas), but we adopt to good homes everywhere. If you are located out of our area, our volunteers would be happy to "meet you halfway" for a visit with one of our awesome animals!

About Our Shelter:

We are a new all-volunteer 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to help homeless animals in San Saba County, Texas. We are working toward building a shelter to receive and care for animals in our county who need assistance in finding new homes. While we pursue that goal, we are doing what we can to help through socialization and placement of adoptable animals in the San Saba municipal shelter who are in danger of being euthanized for lack of space. Our group also helps to reunite lost pets with their owners. We encourage responsible pet ownership, including spay/neuter to reduce the unwanted pet population and proper vaccination of pets.

Donate to Our Shelter...

Donations may be sent to P.O. Box 423, San Saba, Texas. 76877. Any amount -- large or small -- will be greatly appreciated!

Come Meet our Pets:

Please visit our Facebook page at for information on adoptable animals, adoption events and contact information. Right now, visits are by appointment only because we do not have a physical facility. If you are not in our area, we can usually arrange to meet you at a location closer to your home.

Our Adoption Process:

Prospective adopters are asked to complete an adoption application. The application is reviewed by our adoptions committee. We typically check vet and personal references and confirm landlord permission, if applicable. If the adoption is approved, SSCFOA and the adopter enter into an adoption contract. An adoption fee of $50 is required.

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder? When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
