About Our Rescue Group:

New Leash On Life is a non-profit animal rescue corporation. It was created to significantly reduce the devastating number of animals abandoned and euthanized in Los Angeles. We hold mobile pet adoptions twice a month and offer both free and low-cost seminars and school programs to help educate the public about responsible pet ownership.

We've recently developed our Lend a Paw program, rescuing dogs from the shelter and training them as assistance and therapy dogs for people and children in need. In addition to our Lend a Paw training program, we have now implemented a training program for all of our rescues. Each dog rescued from the shelter will go through an obedience training course prior to being placed for adoption. Some special dogs may be chosen for Lend a Paw, while others will be adopted to loving families. By training each dog, the adoptive family has a better chance of developing a better bond and a permanent relationship.

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog or puppy versus getting dogs for sale or puppies for sale from a dog breeder? When someone is breeding puppies, they are creating new dogs who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog or puppy and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale from a puppy breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog or adopt a puppy at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
