About Our Rescue Group:

Every pet that comes through Dream House Rescue has a story – often one of not being wanted. It’s our goal to find loving homes for each of these adorable pets. The good news is that in the last 20 months, Dream House Rescue has found homes for 1,200 pets.

All of our adoptable animals are in foster homes. We have no paid employees or shelter.

Dream House Rescue saves dogs from kill shelters, gets them medical treatment, and fosters these dogs in our homes until they are adopted at our local adoption events.

Our Adoption Process:

We have two ways to adopt a dog:

1) Foster to adopt. This requires completion of a form, we make a copy of your driver's license, and there is a $40 fee (cash or check only). You are permitted to take the dog home that day for a trial visit of up to one week at your home (longer if necessary is also possible). This will help you determine if you and the dog are the right match. If yes, then the following weekend you can finalize the adoption at the Oakley Petsmart. If no, then you return the dog to us at Oakley Petsmart and you are welcome to try a different dog.

2) Outright Adoption. If you're sure you've found the right dog, you complete the adoption contract, we copy your driver's license, you pay the adoption fee in full (cash or check only) and take the dog home. You receive all the dogs health records that we have available to us. If you have first fostered-to-adopt, then the $40 fee goes toward the adoption fee.

Our adoption fee is $175 for most dogs, $200 for puppies. Fee INCLUDES: the dog's spay/neuter surgery, parvo/distemper shots and rabies shots, deworming, microchipping, flea and tick protection, heartworm testing, and monthly heartworm protection until the dog gets adopted.

There are also volunteers at our adoption events and we can talk with you about the dogs and what might work, etc.

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog or puppy versus getting dogs for sale or puppies for sale from a dog breeder? When someone is breeding puppies, they are creating new dogs who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog or puppy and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale from a puppy breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog or adopt a puppy at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
