S.O.S. PETS, INC. IS A 501C3 NON-PROFIT CAT RESCUE ORGINIZATION. We match friendly, heartfelt felines with loving, lifelong homes. Our kitties are spayed and neutered, tested for feline aids and leukemia, and vaccinated prior to adoption. Stop by & SAVE your new best friend today! S.O.S. PETS, Inc. is a small, all-volunteer cat rescue group. Our available cats are rescued from high volume kill shelters and are made available for adoption through the Rockaway, NJ PetSmart Adoption Center. S.O.S. PETS, Inc. is a 501(c) (3) Federal Tax Exempt Organization and a registered non-profit charitable organization in the state of NJ. All donations are tax deductible. S.O.S. PETS, Inc. receives no state or federal funding and relies solely on the adoption fees and public donations.

You can see the majority of the cats we have available for adoption at the Rockaway PetSmart Adoption Center located at 367 Mount Hope Ave outside the Rockaway Townsquare Mall.

Our Adoption Process:

Potential adopters complete an Adoption Application which is reviewed by a committee of S.O.S. PETS volunteers. Applicants must be 21 years of age or older. The adoption fee is $100 made payable to S.O.S. PETS. Arrangements to meet one or all of our adoptable cats at the Rockaway PetSmart Adoption Center location can be made by contacting us at

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a cat or kitten versus getting cats for sale or kittens for sale from a cat breeder? When someone is breeding kittens, they are creating new cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of cat or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a cat for sale from a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with cats who must find homes. So rather than buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a cat or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
