About Our Rescue Group:

A wonderful group of ladies have come together to help network and save German Shepherds in kill shelters in Texas, primarily in the North Texas area. Lonestar German Shepherd Rescue is in its beginning stages of coming together and becoming established.
Lone Star German Shepherd Rescue is only in its beginning months but has already helped many dogs from death at high kill shelters. Our group not only saves dogs from shelters to be adopted out through us, but also helps with temporary fostering dogs for out of area adopters/rescues that wish to save Texas dogs. We are a small rescue, but work with very large hearts to help these poor dogs.
Currently all the adoptable dogs are located in Whitesboro, TX. All dogs are both inside/outside. Each dog is tested with other dogs, cats, horses, and kids. All dogs are worked with on house training and crate training. We also work with them on learning how to sit and walk well on a leash. Each dog wears a collar and rescue ID tag at all times while with us. When time and weather permits we do try to take them out into the community with us, preferring to take them for a stroll through Petsmart or Petco.
All dogs are spayed/neutered, updated on rabies, DHPP, & Bordatella shots, microchipped, and tested for heartworms.
Being a small rescue that does not yet have our 501c3 the funding for the dogs comes completely out of our own pockets. Donations are very appreciated.
Some of the items the rescue would appreciated donated are:
Dog food
Treats (training treats, milkbones, rawhide rolls, or bones)
Toys (the dogs love big tug ropes, tennis balls, and kong toys)
Old towels
Rescue ID tags
Dog shampoo
Flea Meds
Heartworm Meds
Dog beds
Dog houses
Also we very much would appreciate gift certificates/gift cards to Tractor Supply, Sams Club, Walmart, or Jeffers Pet for supplies.

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog or puppy versus getting dogs for sale or puppies for sale from a dog breeder? When someone is breeding puppies, they are creating new dogs who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog or puppy and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale from a puppy breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog or adopt a puppy at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
