Stray Acres Sanctuary and Animal Rescue was established as a non-profit corporation in Bertram, TX. officially in December of 2012, but the idea has been a lifelong goal.
Our mission is to provide safe haven for stray animals, animals in high kill shelters and animals on death row, regardless of breed, sex, or species. We also promote the spay or neutering of companion animals, to help prevent overpopulation. We also believe in the practice of Trap, Neuter, Release, (TRN) of feral cats. We strive to educate the public on the benefits of these practices.
We educate the public against Breed Specific Legislation (BSL) to promote equality for all breeds, and to help fight the prejudice toward "aggressive" breeds.
We are located in the Hill Country of Central Texas, west of Austin and have set about completing our life's goal by providing a permanent home for animals either through sanctuary here or through rehoming by adoption.

Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.
So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
