Columbus Pet Rescue is a volunteer-run not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to finding safe and loving homes for pets in need in the Central Ohio Area.

About Our Rescue Group:

Columbus Pet Rescue (C.P.R.) is an all-volunteer non-profit 501(c)3 education/legislation/rescue organization established to rescue, spay/neuter, and care for feral, stray, neglected, and abused cats and dogs. We rehabilitate and socialize some of these animals in order to find them forever homes. Through community education and tireless rescue efforts, we provide a safe place to surrender unwanted pets and help reduce the number of pets in Columbus area shelters. C.P.R. covers medical care and the necessary expenses of providing a foster home for these homeless cats and dogs. Any donations you make will be tax deductible to the full extent of the tax laws.

We often have adoption events at Petsmart in Hilliard, and at the Petsmart in Grove City. Several of our available cats and kittens can be found at these locations.

Our Adoption Process:

Adopting a new pet from our rescue is a very special way to add a new family member to your home! These animals have been rescued from the outdoors, from neglect, from abuse. They are well deserving of forever homes where they will be loved and cared for the way every animal should be. We are dedicated to finding the perfect fit for our animals and look forward to helping you find a new best friend to add joy to your life!

Click on "available pet" and scroll down to find the adoption application. After filling out an application, e-mail it to We will process your information and check veterinary and other references. Finally you will be scheduled for a home visit to make sure the environment is perfect for your new family member. Once you are approved, the process is simple: choose your new cat or kitten, meet and greet him or her, and, if all goes well, you have yourself a new pet. (All kittens will be spayed or neutered at 12 weeks before going to their new home.) Adoption fees are noted with each pet. Most cats and kittens run $75 (Includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, flea treatment, worming, and FeLV/FIV test - over $250 worth of veterinary care!) Check us out today.

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder? When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
