Our shelter has one full-time employee; and one volunteer through a 501c3(Helping Hands for Animals). Our goal is to reduce the numbers of stray and unwanted animals through adoptions, and spay/neuter assistance.

Come Meet our Pets:

Our dogs can be seen at the Morgan County Animal Shelter six days a week from 8:00am-3:00pm. We are closed on Thursdays. It is always recommended that you call the shelter prior to coming by. Our shelter number is 606-743-2545.

Our Adoption Process:

We require an adoption application. We will check a vet reference upon completion of the application. We require that all animals adopted are spay/neutered when age appropriate. Our adoption fee is $75 which covers the costs of shots given at the shelter, vet administered rabies vaccination and spay/neuter.

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog or puppy versus getting dogs for sale or puppies for sale from a dog breeder? When someone is breeding puppies, they are creating new dogs who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog or puppy and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale from a puppy breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs who must find homes. So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog or adopt a puppy at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
