Haven Humane Society serves all of Shasta County. We provide adoptions, low cost spay and neuter surgeries, microchipping, dog licensing, and lost and found services. Get on our adoption "waiting list" if you are looking for a specific breed and we will notify you when we have what you are looking for.
Our mission is to promote humane treatment of animals through sheltering, spay/neuter, adoption and community education. We provide animal rescue, evacuation and sheltering services during disasters and provide animal regulation services for the City of Redding. We have two State Humane Officers on staff to investigate animal cruelty cases. We operate on private donations and hold two fundraiser each year, the Dog A Thon & Boot Scootin' Doggie Barbecue in June and the Bark & Wine & Brew in October.
Come Meet our Pets:
The Morgan Adoption Center is open Monday through Saturday from 11:00 to 5:00. We also have an adoption kiosk at PetSmart on Hilltop Drive in Redding, which is open Wednesday through Sunday from 11:00 to 4:00.
Our Adoption Process:
Our regular adoption fees are $85 for cats and $135 for dogs. However, many of the animals' adoption fees have been sponsored by animal lovers or discounted for special circumstances such as for senior pets, or pets that have had longer shelter stays. Renters must have landlord approval. An adoption application is required and a dog introduction is required for dog adoptions into homes with other dogs.
Why should you adopt?
Dog adoption and cat
adoption saves lives. Adopt
a dog or adopt a cat and you'll
have a friend for life! What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting
a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats
for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?
When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs
and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of
dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed
is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten
breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.
So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat
or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt
a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane
society or pet rescue group.
