Roughneck Rescue's adoption process

Additional adoption info

We do things a little differently at Roughneck Rescue and we will help you find a dog that matches your energy. You want a dog that has an energy level equal or less than yours that you can easily fulfill, which will result in a better relationship. Our adoption process starts with you completing an application which includes veterinarian and personal references. Once these references have been checked, you will discuss your situation and desired dog with Danny Davis, Dog Behaviorist and President of Roughneck Rescue. When the right dogs is found for you we'll schedule an appointment for you to come to the center and meet Danny and the dog. If it looks like a good match, we will schedule a home visit. The home visit is not meant to invade your privacy. We only want to make sure that your home is safe and prepared for your new family member. At that time you will be required to complete an Adoption Contract with Roughneck Rescue. Our tax deductible adoption fee is $200. We offer one-on-one guidance with Danny, as well as continued guidance as needed.

If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs, complete and submit the online adoption application on our website at www.roughneckrescue.org from the "Adoption Process" tab.

About Roughneck Rescue

The mission of Roughneck Rescue is to Rescue, Rehabilitate and Re-Home dogs that are in abusive, endangered or neglectful situations or in danger of being euthanized at area shelters. For some of these rescued dogs and for various reasons, they will need to remain with Roughneck Rescue for the rest of their natural lives. Our goal is to rescue dogs in bad situations, rehabilitate them to a balanced state of mind and find homes that best match the energy of the human and the dog. By educating humans on becoming calm-assertive pack leaders, we eliminate the risk of these dogs being shuffled in and out of homes and shelters. Roughneck Rescue is a team of individuals who believe that all dogs deserve a permanent home where they are safe, fulfilled and challenged in body, mind and heart every day.

Roughneck Rescue is proud to be an adoption partner of Pets for Patriots. For more information about this program visit www.petsforpatriots.org/partners/roughneck-rescue.

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
