Additional adoption info

If you have seen one of our adoptable dogs on our Facebook page or Website, we encourage you to contact us via our Contact page to enquire about the dog. If it might be a fit, we will then ask you to fill out our Adoption Application form. This is an important first step for us to be able to evaluate whether the dog you are interested in is a good fit for your lifestyle and vice versa.
Upon review of your application we will arrange a visit with the dog to ensure you both get along. If there is already a dog in your home we require a meeting between the two (or more) as well.
Home checks are an important part of our process. It is not meant as an invasion of your privacy! We are dedicated to finding the best homes for our dogs and seeing where an adopter lives gives us a good indication of how the dog will live as well. If all goes well and you are approved, we'd ask you to complete and sign the Adoption Contract on adoption day.
All adopted dogs are up to date their vaccinations and are spayed or neutered (or scheduled for their spay or neuter if they are too young at the time of adoption).

Minimum Donation Amounts
In order for us to be able to continue our rescue efforts, we ask that a minimum donation amount is given to CAARE. The minimum donation are as follows:

Puppies (under 6 months old) - $500
Young Adults (6 months - 2 years old) - $400
Adults (2+) - $350

These donation minimums in no way fulfill our financial obligations incurred by medical, transport and the supply cost of rescue. Please contact us to find out how you can donate!
These donation amounts are minimums only and may be modified at the Rescue's discretion.

Adopt a Pet is the easiest way for you to search for a new pet in Vancouver, BC.

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
