Additional adoption info

To adopt a dog, we like to get to know you through email so we can make sure your family will be a good match with the dog. You then come meet the dog. We do a home visit to help you make the transition for the dog as easy as possible for you and the dog. Meanwhile the dog gets a preadoption check up. You then get to come pick up your new family member. If we feel the need, we may ask you to come a couple times to make sure the dog is comfortable with all family members before you take the dog home. You will sign a contract that says the dog comes back here if you are no longer able to keep it, It cannot go to anyone else. Our fee is a voluntary donation to our medical fund. You will also reimburse us for a year's supply of heartgard that will come with your pet.

We specialize in timid or shut down dogs that have the potiential to make good family pets. We try to teach our dogs how to get along with a wide range of people, other dogs, other animals and give them room to run and play on our farm. We like to know when a dog leaves here, it is going to a family (or individual) that will be the best match possible. And that the dog will have an important role within the family.

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
