Areas SOS Rescue serves

We are a 501c3 licensed rescue made up of all volunteers - working moms who donate our time to save animals. We rescue dogs and cats from high kill shelters in the southeast, foster these dogs/cats in loving foster homes in Georgia, and once adopted, we transport our animals to the northeast. Our transport arrives every Saturday, making several stops in NH, CT, NY, NJ and PA.

Additional adoption info

Once you have found your perfect pet, we suggest getting an application in immediately, found at www.sosrescuega.org/application

We require an application with 3 references, a vet reference, and a phone interview. Next, a deposit is paid to secure your pets place on transport. You pick your city from the many stops our transport company makes, and meet your pet on a Saturday morning. We transport dogs/cats from Georgia to the northeast every other week, arriving on Saturdays.

Our puppies and kittens are adopted very quickly - we often receive hundreds of inquiries on the same pup so the best way to increase your chances of getting your pet is to send an application immediately - found on our website at www.sosrescuega.org/application

We are not able to answer every email. We will mark a pet ADOPTED once it is no longer available - please do not ask if a pet is available because we simply cannot respond to all the inquiries. We cannot confirm if we have received your application or answer inquiries or messages on Facebook. If you are being considered we will email you. Please understand, we are working moms who volunteer our time and simply cannot respond to the hundreds of emails that we receive.

SOS Rescue's adopted pets

Adopt a Pet is the easiest way for you to search for a new pet in Thompson, CT.

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
