Ginger II's Story...
PLEASE NOTE: ARRF does not have a shelter. This dog lives in a foster home. If you have seen an address for ARRF, it is only our mailing address. Please contact the foster of this dog if you are interested in meeting her. See contact information at the end of her profile.

Ginger is a 2.5-year-old spayed female Australian Shepherd mix who weighs about 27 lbs. Her coat is reddish colored and she has short hair. Ginger has a very sweet temperament. She is quite the cuddle puppy and attention hog with her foster family, but is aloof around strangers and it takes a bit of time and patience for her to warm up to them. Once she is comfortable with you, though, she will love, love, love you! She will even be happy to snooze at your feet during the day -- she just wants attention.

Ginger absolutely LOVES having her face rubbed and will accept that from strangers even when she will not accept a treat from them. She is fine with other dogs, and accepts well-behaved toddlers and children. She loves to go for walks and rides nicely in the car.

Ginger II is house trained, crate trained and microchipped.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Ginger II, a Vista Australian Shepherd dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Australian Shepherd for sale in Vista, or seeking a Australian Shepherd dog from a breeder in Vista.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Vista already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Vista breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Australian Shepherd breeders who help with Australian Shepherd rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Vista paves the way for another one to be saved.
