My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This is a courtesy listing.
Nellie's human mom says: Nellie is a healthy, 8 year old, tri-colored, rough Collie, shots current, spayed, and mirco-chipped. She weighs in at a perfect, healthy weight of 50 pounds. She has been my faithful companion for 4 years. I must find her a home due to health issues (mine) and recent, permanent limited resources which affect my ability to provide for all her needs.
Nellie personifies love. She is faithful and sensitive, and gentle. She has a playful spirit and can on occasion be a tease. I think she has a sense of humor. She is clueless what to do with a toy or ball (but may learn around another dog) but her preferred form of play is a cat and mouse kind of tag. Nellie needs a stable home and seems to flourish best in a more structured environment (not rigid); a home that will allow her freedom to play outdoors in safety (fence, not invisible fence), and where life is on the calmer side. She is a very social girl with people. Nellie also would prefer a home with another dog. She loves the companionship of another canine playmate. Bring another dog around her and she will morph into a wildly elated bundle joy. It is a marvelous sight to see here racing circles around the outside of the house with total abandon when a canine playmate comes a calling.
As a collie, Nellie needs regular grooming - daily brushing and ideally bathed between once a month to every three months, depending on her environment and other factors. Once a year she has a major shed which requires even more rigorous grooming. She loves her enclosed cubbies - under my desk is her favorite nook of the world when not outside soaking in the sun. Nellie is not comfortable around active smaller children. Their spontaneous movements confuse her and she becomes very skittish. However, older kids who know gentleness and love are just fine. She needs regular walks. She is not real keen on car rides. Nellie would not do well in an apartment or a home where there is nowhere to hang out in the day outdoors. She has no barking, digging, or chewing issues. Nellie loves dogs and is indifferent to cats.
