Henry is black with a gray muzzle with some white markings on his ears and face. The shelter gave him a bath and grooming as he was severely matted upon arrival. Henry’s teeth have been neglected and he will require a dental by our veterinarians. Also, poor Henry only has one eye due to a surgery done by the shelter, as his eye was bulging out when he was picked up.
Henry will need a refresher on basic training, including house training. He also appears to have some separation anxiety. The records from the shelter indicate he was in a foster home with small children but was returned due to food and toy aggression. The shelter thought that the family was not experienced with those issues, yet with that he was labeled aggressive and put into an unadoptable area of the shelter. It is clear that Henry needs someone who is a leader and willing to work with him on his issues. It is not a good idea for Henry to go to a home with small children.
Our volunteer with whom Henry is staying has not seen any aggression with the other dogs in her home as she feeds them separately. She thinks he just wants to be underfoot and getting pets. There are some minor issues bumping into things from his blind side, but that is not slowing Henry down at all. She also said that after Henry was sprang from the shelter, he was very friendly with her and tried to climb onto her lap, sat for treats, and rolled over for a belly
