Mr. White's Story...
Mr. White is a gorgeous and fun, five-year-old, golden-eyed, white male cat who enjoys the company of other cats. He can be seen at Felines & Canines, a shelter in Chicago’s Edgewater neighborhood, has about 130 adoptable cats, and a dozen dogs looking for loving guardians. Here’s a small sampling of their cats. Felines & Canines sets an example for the community by co-mingling their feline-friendly FIV positive and negative cats. FIV is spread through deep bite wounds, and is not spread casually spread through shared litter boxes, water or food bowls. Felines & Canines is located at 6379 N. Paulina Street and is open for visitation and adoption seven days a week from 12:30-6:00 p.m. The cat adoption fee is $100, or a pair for $150. All the cats are spayed/neutered, current on vaccines, tested for viruses, de-wormed and micro-chipped. To meet and possibly adopt a cat or two, please contact or 773-465-4132.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Mr. White, a Chicago Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Chicago, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Chicago.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Chicago already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Chicago breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Chicago paves the way for another one to be saved.
